Preliminary winners in the Talent Competition in the 2008 Miss New York Competition were Theresa Tokarowski, Miss Jubilee who won with an operatic vocal performance of "Ah! Je veux vivre" by Charles Gounod from the opera 'Romeo Et Juliette' and Kathleen Martin, Miss Greater Rochester who won with a vocal performance of "Astonishing" from the musical 'Little Women'.

Preliminary winners in the Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit Competition in the 2008 Miss New York Competition were Marina Montes, Miss Southeast New York and Miss Brooklyn, Leigh Taylor Smith.

Preliminary winners in the Evening Gown Competition in the 2008 Miss New York Competition were Jennifer Walker, Miss Modern Times and Leigh Taylor Smith, Miss Brooklyn.
