Miss New York 2005 -- Kandice Pelletier

Kandice Pelletier, Miss New York 2005, is a degree candidate at the Gallatin School at New York University studying Entertainment Communications.  Fans of the Emmy Award winning, CBS television network reality series “The Amazing Race” will also recognize her as part of the spirited duo that traveled around the globe at break-neck speed, once during Season 10 and again as part of the Amazing Race All Stars.  Kandice was partnered in this endeavor with her roommate from the Miss America Pageant, Miss California.

Not only a seasoned world traveler, Kandice has also been a Radio City Music Hall Rockette.  In 2005 she had the very unique honor of being chosen by Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum to be the model for their highly anticipated wax figure of a Rockette which was unveiled in their Times Square location during Christmas season and is slated to be a permanent fixture of this pop-culture museum.  Visitors to New York can also see Kandice as she narrates the on-camera introduction and tour of the “Top of the Rock” experience at the world famous Rockefeller Center, a recent addition to the many wondrous tourist attractions that the city has to offer.

A dancer since the age of 1 when her mom first noticed that she was using the edge of her crib as a dancers’ balance bar, Kandice has studied extensively and has appeared with the Georgia Ballet, with Hugh Jackman at the Tony Awards, three times in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, "Law and Order – Trial by Jury," countless network television specials, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and as a principal dancer in The Producers: The Movie Musical with Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick.

She can also be seen in various national print ads for Danskin, BIC, Jovani Fashions, LaDuca Shoes and Lanteri Wear. As a teacher she has taught many master classes and for the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.  She has judged numerous national dance competitions and she herself has won many choreography awards.

Her commitment to community service knows no bounds.  She has been involved with PENCIL and their New York City based “Principal for a Day” program which promotes a better relationship between corporate leaders and school principals to further and strengthen the commitment to obtaining the highest level of excellence for student achievement.  As Miss New York she spoke tirelessly to children of all ages about her personal involvement with volunteerism and the impact it has had on her life.  As an educator, she has taught English as a Second Language and has created workshops that fund after school programs. Also, she gives generously to community charity performances as a performer and spokesperson benefiting such diverse causes such as Pediatric Cancer to Dancer’s Responding to AIDS.
